The city of Locust Grove is located in Henry County, Georgia. Locust Grove got its name from a grove of locust trees in town. Locust Grove started off fairly small by stretching ¼ mile in every direction from the train depot. The city has a cute downtown area with old shops and the classic railroad running along Highway 23/42.
The city even had a college, the Locust Grove Institute, which was one of the first schools in Georgia to be accredited by the Association of Schools and Colleges of the Southern States. The school later closed. The City of Locust Grove later purchased the building. The building was restored for the various City Government offices which is now the Locust Grove Municipal Complex.
Business and shopping also thrives with Locust Grove’s Tanger Outlet Mall and other industries in Henry County.
