Remember back when cars were hitting carriages like every other day? Neither do I, but there was a time when it was happening in Atlanta, Georgia. It caused quite a stir as everything does now days. Some people wondered if we should even have them. Some people blamed our culture. I made that up entirely. But, let us get back the post from the past to see what all of the fuss was at the time.
Who knew that a car accident on a Friday night would create a debate among city officials, carriage owners, horse owners, and PETA? Well, that is exactly what has happened. This is a post from the Accident Lawyers of Georgia.
For the full back story, visit our previous post on the Atlanta carriage accident called “Smart Horse Versus Dumb Mustang“. PETA has always been against the use of animals in most capacities other than household pets. (My dog is named Ruby.) Carriage owners want to keep their industry going and defuse any bad press about dangers associated with a nice ride in Atlanta. City officials are kites, blah blah blah. Now, for my opinion (crickets), everything should stay the same. It is not hard to miss a horse-drawn carriage in 2010, maybe in 1810. Further, and correct me if I am wrong, but you don’t hear anything about horse carriage accidents that often. As far as PETA is concerned, it seems that people only take these rides at night. So, the work day is pretty short. As for the care of the animal after that, could be a concern. But, that is about how the owners take care of horse not the work load.
If you want to learn more about various personal injury stories and topic, you must go to the Georgia Legal Blog and just scroll down. We have over one hundred legal articles on all types of injuries. Some of them are related to car chases, and weird accidents. Others are related to changes in Georgia law or laws around the county that may effect a Georgia personal injury case. Other articles are just plain super interesting and qualify me for an award of some type.
This article on the Atlanta carriage accident and the ensuing debate is just the tip of the iceberg. Boy, I can’t even stand to wait, I am doing this.
