Auto Accident Settlement Tip #2

This is the second post in a string of completely wonderful legal articles.  What an honor for all of us, really.  Alright, fun aside, let us get to the topic of the day from the Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer, Joseph P. McClelland.  Today’s topic is another auto accident settlement tip that you can use to help yourself or help your attorney help you.  Of course, if you were injured in Georgia, why try to handle your own personal injury case?  It is not smart, but with a plaintiff’s attorney’s help, you will be fine.

The second tip in how to increase the worth of your personal injury case is to go slowly.   Be patient.  All good things come with time.  The offer the insurance company offers in month one is absolutely different than the offer they will make after you have finished treatment, a demand package has been drafted and received, and several back and forths with offers and rejections.

How long does it take to settle a car accident case?  The easiest answer is that it will take several months to settle a motor vehicle accident case.

How long it takes to settle a back injury case depends on several things.  One of them is patience.  You need to get better.  When your treating physician says that your going to fully heal, then we start negotiating in earnest.  If you are not patient then you might be tempted to settle the case before you really know the true extent of your injury.  If you upper back still hurts after three months, the value of your personal injury case will be different if you are being treated for much longer.  Perhaps, the doctor will recommend injections to ease the pain associated with your car accident.  This would increase the value of your Georgia personal injury case.

Georgia personal injury settlements happen with about 99% of all claims filed.  That settlement may occur early in the game with only your law firm and their insurance representative.  Other settlements happen after a lawsuit has been filed.  Why file a lawsuit?  There can be tons of reasons why to file a suit.  Perhaps the negotiations have gone nowhere, and we know that the claim has a higher value than the offer on the table.  In that case, we may need to file a lawsuit to hold our ground and fight for the best settlement.

Atlanta personal injury attorneys are there to make sure that you get all of your bills paid, that you get full medical attention to get you well, and to put some money in your pocket for pain and suffering.  Always hire a professional.  It just makes sense.
